Expertise in Loudspeaker Design and Measuring Software, Backed by Decades of Innovation

LOUDSOFT is a global leader in Loudspeaker Design and Measuring Software, offering advanced tools built on more than 45 years of hands-on acoustic engineering experience. Our solutions are developed specifically for audio professionals who require precision, speed, and ease of use in loudspeaker simulation and measurement.

The company was founded by Peter Larsen, a recognized authority in loudspeaker technology. Peter began his career in 1974 at SEAS and went on to serve as Chief Engineer at Vifa (1979–1987) and Dynaudio (1987–1990), followed by a role at JBL in the United States until 1993.

Since 1993, Peter Larsen has worked as an independent consultant to top-tier loudspeaker manufacturers around the world, including Audax (France), KEF Audio (UK), Goldmax (China), Vifa-Speak (Denmark), Peerless Fabrikkerne (India), NXT (UK), Microlab (China), Apple (USA) and many others.

During the period as an independent consultant Peter Larsen has specialized in in-depth analysis of loudspeakers and manufacturing techniques. His research has covered new components and materials, advanced Acoustic Finite Element modelling, new measuring methods and software, novel speaker design concepts and the development of customized products (private label).

His consulting work has driven innovations in loudspeaker design methodology, measurement accuracy, and acoustic analysis. This includes deep specialization in component development, advanced acoustic finite element modeling, measurement software engineering, and the creation of custom OEM loudspeaker systems.

LOUDSOFT’s Loudspeaker Design and Measuring Software solutions reflect this legacy of technical leadership. They are trusted by engineers and audio design teams worldwide to improve design workflows, reduce development time, and deliver high-performance loudspeakers across industries—from automotive audio to professional sound.

The stories behind our Loudspeaker Design and Measuring Software...

FINEMotor

Based on his experience in designing loudspeaker drivers, Peter developed software to help him design magnet systems and voice coils much faster and much more easily. To develop user friendly software Peter asked Bob Harris,  a former Chief engineer at KEF UK, to help him convert it into a Windows based program. Eventually, producers of loudspeaker drivers learned about the software and wanted to buy it.

This software is today called FINEMotor and it is continuously being developed to meet the increasing demands of todays’ high quality sound industry.

FINECone

In 1995 Peter Larsen attended a seminar with Dr. Henrik Vollesen, who had finished his Ph.D at Bang and Olufsen. They discussed his analysis of the mechanical and acoustical properties of a loudspeaker unit with controlled directivity. Peter Larsen realized the potential of Henrik Vollesen´s ideas in the design of cones and they set about developing them into accessible software.

Henrik Vollesen was an experienced programmer and Peter Larsen had the practical experience designing drivers. Together, they created user friendly software to help design cones, domes, surrounds, dustcaps etc. as well as optimizing the driver. The software also turned out to be a very useful trouble shooter tool.

This program, FINECone, helps speaker designers all over the world to design better, less expensive and more accurate acoustic designs in a shorter time than ever seen before.

FINEBox

Over the years several customers asked Peter Larsen to create an intuitive and easy-to-use program to help them design loudspeaker boxes. Peter Larsen and Bob Harris developed the software with help from some of the world-leading designers of loudspeaker systems.

The goal was to develop flexible and intuitive software with features based on practical design work. The designers wanted a real high power non-linear enclosure program which avoids extensive manual input and is able to simulate advanced designs in a simple way. Peter and Bob were able to make a program which is intuitive and user friendly to the system designer.

This program is called FINEBox. FINEBox is based on practical design work and gives you a very quick overview of the possible system design options. It is the preferred tool for daily system high quality sound design work.
